Lives Saved

Believe it or not, taxpayers save lives EVERY DAY through Medicaid. These are the beautiful people who are thriving and thankful for all that Medicaid has done for them!

JACOB | MT. HOME

Rebecca says, “Medicaid has saved us from going broke financially. My son Jacob was born 3 months early. He’s had 15 surgeries and is a cp baby along with wearing a procussion vest airway clearance. We see 9 specialists at ACH; without Medicaid we would be broke from the surgeries and doctors visits along with hospitalizations.”

KENNADI, GRIFFIN, & MACY | THE BATESVILLE DAILY GUARD

Kennadi Pretty, Griffin Cossey and Macy Bryant are three Independence County children born with special needs whose families, without receiving Medicaid benefits, would not otherwise be able to afford treatments, therapies and other medical expenses for their children. They fear a cut in Medicaid funding will affect these families and many others — as well as a loss of jobs in this area (physicians’ offices, therapy clinics, developmental daycares, dental offices, Arkansas Children’s Hospital and other hospitals in the area).

Their story, “The real faces of Medicaid…” is in today’s Batesville Daily Guard.

LILA | LITTLE ROCK

Before Medicaid, Lila’s mom and dad struggled to pay her medical bills, such as for her open heart surgery. The insurance provided by their jobs just didn’t cover all of the costs. She did not receive any therapy at all, which caused her to be very delayed in speech and other activities. Now that Lila has TEFRA, for which her mom and dad pay a monthly premium, Lila receives all the help she needs with Physical, Occupational, and Speech therapies every week. She also sees a specialist to make sure that Lila’s heart is still working properly.
